A not-to-be-missed special screening at TIFF 2013 will be Pura Vida / The Ridge, by Migueltxo Molina and Pablo Iraburu, a reenactment of one of the most difficult and extensive rescues of a climber in the Himalayas.
In 2008, the Spanish Iñaki Ochoa of Olza, one of the most experienced climbers in the world, suffered injuries while at 7400 meters on Mount Annapurna, one of the most dangerous peaks in the world – about 41% of those who try to conquer it, are never coming back. His expedition partner, Horia Colibasanu, sought help from the base and tried to keep him alive until the rescue team arrived. For four days, experienced climbers from ten countries, including Alex Glăvan, did everything in their power to help his comrades. The special screening of The Ridge will take place in the presence of climber Horia Colibasanu, a special guest of TIFF 2013.
